Download PDF Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) President Badruddoza Chowdhury, Gono Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain and Tarikat Federation Chairman Syed Najibul Bashar Maijbhandari will launch a new political alliance styled Jatiya Oikya Front today.
The new front is aimed at bringing about a meaningful and qualitative change in political and state affairs, electing honest and competent public representatives and establishing an effective parliament and a responsible government.
The proposed front will be formally floated at a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club.
“After formal launching, we will continue discussion with other parties and try to reach consensus on the basis of minimum agreed programmes to bring about meaningful changes in our politics and governance,” BDB Joint Secretary General Firoz Hassan told the news agency.
Meanwhile, Gono Forum President Dr Kamal had a luncheon meeting with top leaders of the 11-party alliance at his residence where he discussed about the proposed front.
Dr Kamal assured the 11-party leaders that the new front “will not make any contradiction” with the Awami League-led 14-party alliance.
Gonotantri Party President Nurul Isalam said they discussed matters relating to the current anti-government agitation and opposition’s electoral reform proposals.
