Bangladesh will play for pride when they meet Zimbabwe in the last preliminary round match of the ICC Champions Trophy at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur today.
The Tigers, who were thrown out of the tournament after a ten-wicket defeat against West Indies at the same venue on Wednesday, will now try to salvage some pride by winning the match against their African rival.
The day-night affair will start at 2:45pm BST with SET Max and Bangladesh Television (BTV) beaming live coverage of the match.
Zimbabwe lost both their matches against West Indies and Sri Lanka badly whereas Bangladesh had an impressive show against the Lankans but the records still favour the Zimbabweans.
Especially since the African nation has 17 wins against Bangladesh’s six in 23 previous encounters, with an added edge of winning 3-2 at home back in August.
Bangladesh skipper Habibul Bashar and his Zimbabwean counterpart Prosper Utseya both said that they want to win the match because this has an important bearing on the one-day series next month in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh announced a 12-member team leaving out ace batsman Mohammad Ashraful and left-arm pacer Syed Rasel.
