Download PDF Six people, a guard and five domestic helps of a house, were slaughtered in the city’s Pallabi area yesterday evening.
The dead are guard Milon, 27, and servants Munir, 11, Rizia, 35, her son Tofael, 15, Anna, 11, and Khadiza, 14. The victims’ hands were tied behind their backs.
The incident took place at House no 20, Road no 24 in Pallabi residential area when the owner of the house, Kazi Sirajul Huq, went to an iftar party with his family.
Sirajul told the press that he left the six at his house and went to his younger brother Kazi Ashraf Hossain’s house to join an iftar party. The murders took place on the second floor of a five-storey under-construction building, where Sirajul lives with his family.
Sirajul’s wife and daughter returned home at around 9:00pm and found the door open. “Blood was oozing through the door,” Siraj told the reporters, adding that his daughter informed him about the killing.
On information, police and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) men rushed to the spot and found the bodies. The law enforcers also recovered two knives from the spot.
Milon’s body was lying in one bedroom, Munir’s at the kitchen while the remainig four were found in another bedroom.
Sirajul, who claimed to be involved in export business, said this could be an incident of robbery. “The robbers killed them as the victims might have identified them,” he told the reporters, but could not confirm if anything went missing from the house.
Rab picked up his driver Mohammad Sayeed for quizzing. Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Mizanur Rahman and Joint Commissioner Shahidul Islam visited the spot.
DMP commissioner said it’s not an incident of robbery. Some might have committed the murders with certain motive, he added.
