Reception to Prof Yunus soon after receiving Nobel Prize

Nobel Prize Winner Prof Muhammad Yunus and Grameen Bank Reception Committee would accord the reception to Prof Yunus and Grameen Bank immediately after he returns home receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.

The committee with its Chairman Justice Habibur Rahman earlier decided to give the reception on November 4.

The second meeting of the committee’s preparatory body was held yesterday at its secretariat at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), a press release of the committee said.

Chaired by Khandoker Ibrahim Khaled, convenor of the preparatory committee and former deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank, the meeting was also attended by Aminul Alam, deputy executive director of Brac, Shaheen Anam, executive director of Manusher Jonno Foundation, Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul, executive editor of Sangbad, Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, project co-ordinator of Gonoshyastha Kendro, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, director of BELA, Barrister Moinul Hossain, Hamida Hossain, Selina Hossain, Dr Muhammad Ibrahim, executive director of Centre for Mass Education in Science, Dr Iftekharuzzaman, executive director of Transparency International Bangladesh, M Tajul Islam, director of Federation of NGOs in Bangladesh, Khushi Kabir, co-ordinator of Nijera Kori, Advocate Sultana Kamal, executive director of Ain O Salish Kendra, Dr Wajedul Islam Khan, general secretary of Bangladesh Trade Union Kendra, Noajesh Ali Khan, senior vice president of ATN Bangla, Prof Wahiuddin Mahmud, former adviser to caretaker government, National Professor Brig (Retd) Abdul Malik,. MA Momen, president of DCCI, Dr Ainun Nishat, country representative of International Union for Conservation of Nature, Dr Faustina Pereira, director of Ain-o-Salish Kendra. Latifur Rahman, president of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and managing director of Transcom Group, Ataus Samad, advisory editor of The Daily Amar Desh, Shykh Seraj, director and chief of news of Channel i, Khairul Anam Shakil, general secretary of Chayanat, Mahfuz Ullah of CFSD, Nasiruddin Yousuff, president of Sammilito Sanskritik Jote.

Prof Mustafizur Rahman and Anisatul Fatema Yousuf, research director and additional director of CPD were also present in the meeting.

The next meeting of the preparatory committee will take place in the first week of November 2006
