A police sub-inspector and three constables were closed to the district Police Lines here yesterday on charge of bribery.

They are Sub-Inspector Nasiruddin and constables Hye, Sattar and Aziz of Sherpur Sadar Police Station.

The cops were on patrol duty on Sherpur-Jamalpur road on Friday night. They held college student Jinnu and his friend while they were returning to the town in a motorbike. The cops threatened to implicate the boys in a robbery case.

Later, the cops took Tk 500 in bribe from the boys and set them free. The boys complained to the superintendent of police (SP) who immediately investigated and probed the allegation.
