The government again sought eight weeks time from the Supreme Court (SC) yesterday to complete the process of judiciary separation.
Following a time extension prayer, the SC fixed today for the hearing of the judiciary separation case.
The Supreme Court on March 18 granted four weeks’ time for the separation of the judiciary from the executive following a prayer by the government seeking time to correct a number of flaws in the four rules and the amended Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) Ordinance 2007.
The court had also asked the government to submit all the information regarding the lower court, judges, number of cases and infrastructure by April 15.
Earlier on February 26, the SC ordered the government to correct the flaws in the rules and amended CrPC and also fixed hearing on March 18.
Attorney General Fida M Kamal yesterday prayed for time extension again saying that a file related to the judiciary separation is waiting for the chief adviser’s approval. The file will be sent to the president after getting the necessary approval from the chief adviser’s office.
