Police yesterday pressed charges against former post and telecommunications minister barrister Aminul Haque for land grabbing and former BNP lawmaker Nadim Mostafa for swindling.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdur Razzak submitted charge sheet accusing Aminul and nine other people in connection with the land grabbing case filed with Godagari Police Station on April 3.
The nine other accused in the case are the former minister’s maternal uncle and Godagari BNP president Rafik Uddin, Godagari BNP secretary and municipality chairman Anwarul Islam, Godagari Banik Samity president Ashraful Haq, Tarikul Islam, Mofazzal, Tofazzal, Ahmed, Tarikul, Nazrul and Eltaz.
Golam Mostafa, a homeopath from Ramnagar village, lodged the case alleging that on April 13 last year, the accused individuals forcefully encroached on a piece of land that belonged to him. The land measuring 13 decimals is located at Dayingpara.
Meanwhile in a separate case, SI Abdur Rahman submitted charge sheet against Nadim Mostafa and three of his cohorts for swindling a person out of Tk 1 lakh in the name of getting his son a job.
Haji Moksed Ali from Bhallukgachhi village in Puthia filed the case accusing the four on April 2 this year.
Three other accused in the case are upazila BNP vice president Abdul Hamid’s brother Abdul Mazid, Bhallukgachhi union BNP secretary general Nazmul Gani Pintu and Omar Ali, principal of Dharampur College.
Moksed alleged that Nadim Mostafa, also the president of college governing body, along with Principal Omar Ali took Tk 1 lakh from him promising that they would get his son, Golam Mostafa, a job as a lecturer at Dharampur College.
The accused did not keep their promise and they did not return his money either. When Moksed asked Nadim to return the money, he intimidated him and drove him away, said the plaintiff in his case statement.
