A 15-member Indian cricket team, led by captain Rahul Dravid, arrived here today morning to play three one-dayers and two Test matches against Bangladesh.

After a short flight from Kolkata, the squad arrived here amidst heavy security.

Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Wasim Jaffar, V V S Laxman, Anil Kumble, Rajesh Pawar, V R V Singh and Ramesh Pawar, who are included only in the Test squad, will join the team on May 15.

The condition of Dravid, who was hit on his nose while practicing on the penultimate day of the conditioning camp in Kolkata, has improved considerably.

A scan was done on his nose and it was found to be “okay,” team sources said.

Dravid, in his interaction with the media after the team’s photo session at a hotel in Kolkata last night, said: “I feel I will be able to play the first match in Dhaka on May 10.”

The Indian captain said all the players are eagerly awaiting the series and he expects it to be an interesting one.

“I am looking forward to this tour in Bangladesh. I strongly believe, we’ve the capability to perform well and it is going to be an interesting series,” he said.

“I have told the players that the main challenge is to bring out our best performance. All the players are eagerly waiting for this series and I am sure they will prove their worth.”

Dravid said they wanted to start afresh and on a positive note in their first assignment after their World Cup debacle.

“The Indian team’s aim is not only to do well in Bangladesh. We also want to start afresh as we have a long cricket season ahead. We are to find our right rhythm from this tour itself,” he said.

India will play the first two one-dayers in Dhaka on May 10 and May 12 and the third one in Chittagong on May 15.

They will play the first Test match in Chittagong to be followed by a Test match in Dhaka.
