One can guess the outcome of this trial against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina under Emergency power Act where government plays the role of judge and jury.
Military backed government wants to remove their obstacle to clinch on power for years to come. Bangladesh have witnessed similar episode ran by DGFI (military intelligence unit) couple of times before during Gen. Zia and then by Gen. Ershad. During this two military strongman marshal law prevailed for close to 16 years combined.
Bangladesh probably going to see another round of camouflaged military backed government with civilian facade.
But truth will prevail ultimately and military rulers will lose confidence and people’s democratic aspiration will triumph over military might.
With hope for democracy forever
