Download PDF Another Bangladeshi female worker, subjected to inhuman treatment by her employer in Dubai, returned to the country yesterday only to be robbed of her savings.
Earlier last week, Ismat Ara returned home and became a news headline of The Daily Star after she narrated inhuman torture by the wife of her master in Dubai.
Moyna Begum returned home yesterday failing to bear inhuman torture by the wife of her employer.
Misfortune continued to pursue her even in the home country and on her way to Munshiganj home from the Zia International Airport, she fell victim to a gang of ‘ogyan party’ who took away all of her belongings including 3,000 Dirham (equivalent to around Tk 28,000) and her passport after getting her drink water mixed with sedative at Satrasta in the capital.
Moyna had saved the money during her 14-month stay in Dubai.
Finding Moyna lying unconscious by a road in Satrasta, police took her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) yesterday morning, police posted at the hospital said.
As her husband, working at a decorator’s at their village home of Rikabi Bazar in Munshiganj Sadar, found it hard to maintain their six-member family, Moyna went to Dubai spending Tk 60,000 with the hope of bringing solvency.
She could barely send back the amount she had spent for going to Dubai.
However, overwork along with torture made Moyna’s life miserable in a foreign country.
The wife of her employer slapped or struck her with whatever she found on trifling grounds like delay in serving a glass of water.
“I had to go to bed at midnight and get up at 3:00am every day. If I fell asleep during work she [wife of her master] would beat me severely,” Moyna told The Daily Star as she regained her consciousness yesterday afternoon.
She had to work for 21 hours a day as she worked in a 16-member family as a domestic help, she said, adding that her employer has sent her back as she was gradually losing the ability to work and lapses in her work became more frequent.
Physicians at the DMCH said it will take several hours more before Moyna could regain her full strength.

This is utterly disgusting and disturbing of Arabs employers inhuman treatment to Moyna Begum in their country. Those Arabs needs to learn lessons for their evil acts accordingly to their employees. Its about time that Bangladesh government to raised issues to international community through UN for its citizens rights in overseas. Bangladesh government and its citizens must not tollerate such activities, and defend its human rights from the Arabs and their maniac thoughts.

I myself have seen in the past the torment of
our helpless labourers in the Middleeast.
I was a senior officer in KAC Kuwait, a tormented Pakistani domestic worker was cruelly beaten in my neighbourhood , sobbing came to seek my help, but she was forcibly taken back & because we are non Arab, no one would listen to us, We were in the catogory of Miskins!
Please help our poor mothers, brothers and sisters
by warning them through Social workers not to fall prey to inhuman Labour recruiters.
Savagery & slavery still exists in this world,
Most of the Prophets came to Arab world, but still they remain cruel.
As many Scholars say that we see many Muslims in the east, But no Islam.
Probably, thats why ALLAH has given power to the west, where we see non Muslims with main Islamic habit:Humanity.
Our beloved Prophet Mohammed(MSA) repeatedly warned( He is not one of mine)who misbehaves
and opress his neighbours, and his/her fellow human being.Irrespective of Colour & creed!
How cruel are these thieves who has stolen the money from the poor helpless lady.
I will urge present government to create a Poor fund for these poor victims, and setup
Village work centres with a portion of recovered
money from illegal earners.
If you want to call yourselves people’s leaders
forget your attires black & brown & dirty power ,You are known by your deeds, not by education,not by dress, not by your external show,
Work for the betterment of mass people, help them to have small places to live & a little food
to eat!
