Army Chief General Moeen U Ahmed yesterday asserted that the election would be held by December next year and urged the people not to sell out their vote anymore.
“Vote has to be given to such persons who will take care of you through five years. Don’t sell your vote and don’t allow others to do that,” he said while addressing the government officials, local elite and journalists at Rangpur Circuit House.
Gen Moeen said work on voter list is going on. And national identity (ID) card, being prepared simultaneously in collaboration with the army, can be used for various useful purposes.
The army chief sought cooperation of all in making a flawless voter list for holding a free and fair election that was stalled amid a grave political crisis over some poll-related issues, including the voter list, in January last.
About floods, he said this is the time of helping out the distressed people. “We all have the responsibilities to stand beside the flood-affected people. Otherwise, history will not forgive anyone.”
He urged the people who are not affected by the current floods to extend their helping hands to the flood victims. “Relief works are going well across the country. I’ve seen new enthusiasm among the affected people after the floods. They are now preparing seedbeds with fresh initiative,” he said.
He said the army is working with the civil administration to face the floods and aftermath.
In this context, General Moeen criticised the malpractice in relief operations in the past. “In the past, only 30-32 percent of the allocated money had been spent and the rest looted,” he said.

Yeah!! got all your comments and debates mostly against BNP.
Lets go back to the Army that you are so much in support.
The real fact of Army since Independence who have not speared our great leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman whom has been vanished by the Army for the positions. How evil can be that Army forces whom had no Marcy for innocent little child, just because he was son of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
What was the crime Sheikh Mujibur Rahman done to deserve such evil way to end his life?
At the beginning of the start ruling Bangladesh, that Army whom created corruption and even now if you notice in every political party in the country, most of them belongs to Armed forces,
and of course they are not all bad but there are good Armed forces in Bangladesh.
Lets talk about corruption that present military backed government trying to wipe.
1) If you are really Bangladeshi then you know well that systems works in the country, Electricity, Telephone, Post office, Unions, Police Station, Contractors, Land Tax collectors, Lawyers, Magistrates and many more, which department doesn’t work with out bribes.
How many corrupt government officials has been brought to justice accept politicians and Businessmen and when will this happened to wipe corruption?
M. Sohra do you really think all those allegation made by present government against politicians and Businessman’s are 100% true?
Most of the time you have mention media, How many times have you seen Bangladeshi media got report against Civil servants in Bangladesh?
Have you ever seen a documentary proven that the Citizens of Bangladesh are in support of this present government?
We all love Bangladesh but blindly supporting one side of the story is not appropriate.

any conclution ! All we are doing here is giving our
Opinions, ideas, thoughts! We all wants our country
to live in peace! If you think that is NONSENCE?
I am sorry!
August 20th, 2007 at 3:57 am
Nonsense! Is that why Hasina behind bar because of what BNP done last six years?
August 19th, 2007 at 6:50 am
Thats one side of story,I am hopeful that media will
get into this, and you have every right get things
done properly. There will be some bad apples every
where! You should write to The Chief of Army, bring
it to his notice, that will help! But I still believe They are not looting public property, like BNP did in last 6 years!

I have nothing to hide nor afraid of those allegation, like me many others out their facing similar situation. what I have explained in previous comments was just one of many few events have occurred within this present Army backed government. For example few months ago while my case regarding my land was in court waiting for decision, the army decided that they would forcefully trespass on my private five storey property and knocked down half of my building, the court had admitted that they were wrong and decided in my favour. This is fine example of the Army taken advantage of their power and position. Its easier said then done!!!

Corrupted Armies must be removed immediately.
We donot want more Mirazafars in Bangladesh. If Army is corrupt they can sell the country. The
person involved must be cought & removed from Army.
This person concerned must not go unpunished.
Is He of Bangladeshi orgin or hired Rakhi Bahini Member of else where?

I hope your allegation is being investigated and media can follow up!Just to let you know if I were
in your place I would not pay penny!
