2 former Bogra MPs sued

Two former BNP lawmakers and their family members have been sued on criminal charges.

Assistant Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Ashis Kumar Kundu filed a case against detained former BNP lawmaker Helaluzzaman Talukder Lalu and his wife Shamsun Nahar with Bogra Police Station on Thursday night for concealing information in their wealth report submitted to the commission.

In the first information report (FIR), the complainant said Lalu and his wife concealed information about their properties worth Tk 1.86 crore in the wealth statement.

An extortion case was filed with a magistrate court here the same day against the former lawmaker, his son Saifuzzaman Talukder, and 12 others.

On Wednesday, former BNP lawmaker Kazi Rafiqul Islam Rafique and his two brothers were sued for extortion.

Karnipara Union Parishad Member Zahidul Islam filed the case with the court, accusing the three of extorting Tk 2 lakh from him on September 23, 2005.
