The Eid-ul-Fitr, after a month of fasting, will be celebrated tomorrow, if the new moon is sighted today.
An inter-ministerial meeting, chaired by the religious affairs adviser, ASM Matiur Rahman, reviewed the government measures for celebrating the Eid with due religious festivity.
The national flag will be hoisted atop government and non-governmental office buildings. The road and median strips from Banani Gate to the Bangabhaban in the capital will be decorated with the national flag and banners inscribed with ‘Eid Mubarak’,
The Bangabhaban, Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, Chief Adviser’s Office, Bangladesh Secretariat, Supreme Court building, Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, foreign ministry, and Osmani auditorium will be illuminated.
Special supplements will be brought out by newspapers and special programmes aired by government and private television channels.
Special diet will be served in hospitals, orphanages, jails, and destitute centres on the Eid day.
Bangladesh missions abroad have also chalked out programmes to celebrate the Eid, one of the biggest religious festivals of the Muslims.
The main Eid congregation in Dhaka will be held at the National Eidgah at 8:00am, with special arrangements for women to participate. In case of inclement weather, the congregation will be shifted to the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
The first of the three congregations at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque will be held at 7:00am.
Like every year, the largest Eid-ul-Fitr congregation in the country will be held at the Sholakya Eidgah in Kishoreganj district at 9:40am. This year it will be the 180th Eid-ul-Fitr congregation to be held there.
Every year more than three lakh Muslims join the Sholakya Eid congregation. This year around four lakh Muslims, both from home and abroad, are expected to join this third largest congregation of Muslims, after the holy Haj and Biswa Ijtema.
The first congregation at the Dhaka University Jam-e-Masjid will be held at 8:00am and the second at 9:00am while the first congregation at the Dhaka University Central Mosque will be held at 8:30am followed by the second at 9:30am. Besides, a congregation will be held at 8:00am on the Solimullah Muslim Hall premises and another on the Shahidulla Hall premises at 8:30am, a DU press release said.
In Dhaka, the Eid congregation at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology will be held at 8:45am, Azimpur Daira Sharif Mosque at 10:00am, Masjid Baitul Falah Complex at 8:00am and 8:45am, East End Club playground of Gandaria at 8:15am, and Dewanbagh Sharif at Arambagh, Motijheel at 8:00am, 9:30am and 10:00am.
The Eid congregation at the Purbagram Eidgah in Rupganj, Narayanganj will begin at 9:00am.
The main Eid congregation in Chittagong will be held at the Jamiatul Falah Mosque at 8:00am. Other major congregations in the port city will include the one at Andarkila Jame Mosque at 8:00am, Chittagong College campus at 8:30am, Chittagong Stadium, and Collegiate School ground.
Our Rajshahi correspondent reports that the main Eid congregations in the city will be held at the Rajshahi Central Eidgah at 8:30am, and on Shaheb Bazar Road and at Sagar Para at 9:30am.
In Khulna, the main Eid congregation will be held at the Circuit House ground at 8:15am. The second main congregation will be held at the Baitul Noor Mosque Complex at 8:30am. Large congregations will also be held at the Town Jame Masjid, Nirala Masjid, and Moilaqota Jame Masjid.
In Sylhet the main congregation will be held at the Shahi Eidgah at 9:00am. Other important congregations will be held at the Shah Jalal Dargah Sharif at 8:30am, Qudratullah Jame Mosque at 8:30am, and Dakhin Surma Bharthakhola Mosque at 9:00am.
Our Barisal correspondent said the main Eid congregation in Barisal would be held at the Hemayet Uddin Eidgah at 9:00am. One congregation will be held at the Zame Kashai Mosque at 10:00am, Police Line Mosque at 8:45am, and Jailkhana Mosque at 9:45am, while two congregations will be held at the Eabaidullah Mosque at 8:30am and 10:30am.
At Borga, the main Eid congregation will be held at the Central Eidgah at 9:00am. But, in case of inclement weather, it will be shifted to the Central Jame Mosque at 9:30am
