Detained Awami League (AL) President Sheikh Hasina yesterday rejected the jail authorities’ proposal for her treatment in any hospital in the country.
The jail authorities agreed to send the ailing former prime minister to any hospital in the country for medical check-up and eye treatment according to her wish.
“We will arrange her treatment in any hospital in the country if she wishes but she did not let us know her decision in this regard,” DIG (Prisons) Major Shamsul Haider Siddiqui told The Daily Star after a 90-minute meeting with the AL chief at the special jail on the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban premises.
IG (Prisons) Brig Gen Zakir Hassan and the DIG Prisons along with Hasina’s personal physician Dr ABM Abdullah met her and requested her to choose any hospital for her treatment.
The DIG said, “We took her [Hasina] personal physician to the jail for advising her to go to a hospital for treatment. But she refused to be hospitalised.”
Dr Abdullah prescribed some medicines for her to keep her blood pressure under control.
Haider said Sheikh Hasina needs some important medical tests now.
Quoting Hasina, Dr Abdullah said she did not agree to have treatment in the country.
Talking to The Daily Star, Abdullah said Hasina has become too weak to move properly due to illness. She is also suffering from allergy. He said that as her personal physician, he suggested her to go for treatment. But she said how she could believe that there would be no foul play in treatment.
“It would be good if she is admitted to a hospital. Then we could keep her under observation,” said the doctor.
Abdullah said Hasina is having severe hearing problems as both of her hearing aids have been damaged. “There is no alternative but to go to US for treatment of her ears since it is not possible in the country.”
Hasina’s blood pressure has been fluctuating, and it is alarming, he added.

The poltical boast & self style pride of sheikh family had created their enemies , sheikh mujib did not give prudence justice to major Dalim when he sought against the abduction of his wife by
kamal.
We must know that every action face with re action & in the modern world Politica have become a dirty game for almost all join politics not for the people not by the people but by their own selfish desire & by the crooked means of using
strength of poltical goons.
