Bangladesh yesterday condemned the re-publication of cartoons of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) by some Danish newspapers, saying it could fuel resentment that may turn out to be destabilising.
“We deeply regret re-publication of the Danish cartoons. We condemn it,” said a foreign ministry press release.
“We fail to understand how hurting the sentiments of a billion Muslims can advance the cause of freedom of expression!” it said.
“It can only spur resentment that can be destabilising,” the press release said, referring to the widespread protests that followed the first-time publication of the cartoons by Danish newspapers in 2006.
