Moeen gets one-year extension

Services of Chief of Army Staff General Moeen U Ahmed have been extended by one year for public interest at the directive of President Iajuddin Ahmed, says an ISPR press release.

According to a notification of the Ministry of Defence, the extension will take effect from June 15 and will last until June 15, 2009, adds the release issued yesterday.

Was he the best and the senior most when preffered over others by Kahleda Zia Government as army Chief? Is there no senior general in Army now who can lead it at this crisis time? Why he should be given preference who has already got involved in politics and let out several controversial staements not expected during civilian rule?
