Former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia urged the authorities to send her two sons abroad for treatment soon.
She urged them to send Tarique to Germany for treatment of his ‘injury’ and back pain and Koko to Singapore for treatment of his various ailments, Khaleda’s lawyer Ahmed Aazam Khan quoted Khaleda as saying during his visit to the Sub Jail yesterday afternoon.
The former premier also expressed deep concern over the rising prices of essentials, saying that the country is experiencing a ‘famine-like’ situation, Aazam said.
“The country is facing a ‘famine-like’ situation due to the increased prices of essentials and food crisis,” Aazam quoted her as saying.
Khaleda discussed legal issues regarding the cases filed against her during the hour-long meeting with her lawyer.
She has been praying to the almighty so that the nation can overcome the crises and the unbearable situation, Aazam told The Daily Star last night.
Protesting the case filed against Tarique Rahman, his wife and mother-in-law, the BNP chief said the case is absolutely baseless and false. “This is nothing but an attempt to destroy the image of the Zia family,” Aazam said quoting Khaleda Zia.
BNP chairperson also expressed her sympathy to another detained former prime minister and Awami League president Sheikh Hasina, saying that the government should consider the proposal given by Sheikh Hasina’s husband, lawyers and physicians for sending her abroad for treatment.
