The Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday pressed charges against detained former Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) chairman Taimur Alam Khondaker and three others in a case filed for misappropriating Tk 1 crore.

The names of detained former communications minister Barrister Nazmul Huda and six others were dropped from the charge sheet as their involvement in it was not found.

ACC Assistant Director Reva Halder, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court showing 24 people as prosecution witnesses.

The other accused are Moklesur Rahman, member secretary of Dhaka Auto-tempo, Auto-rickshaw and Auto-truck Owners’ Sramik Oikya Parishad, Haji Mohammad Fazlul Haq, convener of Auto-tempo Owners’ Sramik Oikya Parishad and Utpal Kanti Saha, deputy general manager of BRTC.

Of them, Taimur and Mokles are now in jail. Fazlul Haq is out on bail while Utpal is on the run.

On August 19 last year, Hanif Khokon, general secretary of Dhaka Auto-rickshaw Sramik Union, filed the case with Paltan Police Station against Huda, Taimur and eight others in connection with misappropriation of Tk 1 crore by allotting 200 CNG-run auto-rickshaws illegally to 33 persons.
