Grief-stricken family members of 10 more army officers brutally killed in the BDR headquarters met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Jamuna yesterday.
The officers include Col Gulzar (missing), Col Akhter, Col Nafiz, Col Imdad, Lt Col Sazzad, Maj Mokbul, Maj Mosharraf, Maj Humayun Kabir, Maj Khalid and Capt Tanvir.
During the emotional meet, the prime minister said the loss suffered in the Feb 25-26 carnage is irreparable.
“As long as I live, I would stand beside the family members of the martyred army officers in their weal and woe,” she said.
Hasina assured the children of the martyred families of providing educational expenses and other necessary expenses to be borne by the government.
“The government has already announced financial assistance to the members of the martyred families,” she said, adding that the government would also try to make arrangement of ensuring their livelihoods
“Have patience… I will be with you at all times,” the premier said emotionally embracing the family members.
Meanwhile, Hasina yesterday enquired about the welfare of the bereaved families of poor vegetable-vendor Hridoy Hossain and rickshaw-puller Amzad Ali who were killed amid a fusillade during the BDR mutiny.
On behalf of PM, Assistant Personal Secretary Saifuzzaman Shekhor visited the shanties of Hridoy at Hazaribagh and Amzad at Jigatala and enquired about their family conditions.
Saifuzzaman assured them of all assistance from the prime minister and her government.
