People of Senpara Parbata in the city’s Mirpur area blocked road yesterday demanding uninterrupted water supply.
Several hundred local people put up barricade on Begum Rokeya Sarani at Senpara around 12:00 noon and kept the road blocked for nearly an hour, disrupting traffic movement on the weekly holiday.
The agitating residents said they are not getting regular water supply since February. Wasa and other authorities concerned have not taken any step to resolve the crisis, they complained.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control while Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Wasa) assured them of taking steps for smooth water supply.
An official at Monipur-1 water pump of the Wasa, however, said there is a problem in pumping underground water as the groundwater level has gone down in recent days.
