At least one person died and 11 others were injured after a massive fire broke out at the Bashundhara Group’s corporate office building above a shopping mall in the capital today (Friday).
The fire was still raging at 6:00pm, more than four hours after it started, and it was unclear if more people were trapped inside the inferno.
The deceased was identified as Baki Billah, a fire fighter of the Bashundhara Goup.
Of the injured, Enayet and Rassel were shifted to the Dhaka Combined Military Hospital (CMH) from Samarita Hospital in critical.
The Bashundhara City complex, which opened in 2004 and took six years to build, was the first Western-style shopping mall to operate in the country.
