Bishwa Ijtema, the second largest congregation of the Muslim Ummah after hajj, will begin from January 22 on the bank of the Turag River in Tongi.

A five-day ‘Jor’ Ijtema, preparatory event of the three-day Bishwa Ijtema, began on Friday at the Ijtema venue. It will end on Tuesday.

Thousands of devotees, including about 200 foreign ones are attending the ‘Jor’ Ijtema, the organiser sources said.

Tight security measures have been taken in and around the Ijtema venue for holding the annual event of the Tablig Jamaat smoothly.

A good number of volunteers are working round the clock to make the congregation a grand success
