A Gopalganj court on Tuesday granted bail to Mahmudur Rahman, the acting editor of the daily Amar Desh, in two defamation cases filed against him.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Gopalganj Golam Mostafa fixed August 8 for the next hearing of the cases after Mahmudur Rahman was produced before the court in the morning.

Awami League Joint General Secretary of Kotalipara upazila unit Golam Kibria Daria filed the two cases against Mahmudur Rahman and some local journalists on June 2.

The accused journalists also got bail in the cases.
